Taste of Monticello Wine Trail Wine Festival on April 21, at the Charlottesville Pavilion

On Saturday April 21st, the Taste of Monticello Wine Trail Wine Festival – Presented by Brown Mercedes-Benz, will take place at the nTelos Wireless Pavilion on Charlottesville’s Downtown Mall from 2-6 p.m with special VIP Entry from 1pm – 2pm.
Taste of Monticello Wine Trail brings together the best vineyards the Commonwealth of Virginia has to offer under the pavilion for an unforgettable afternoon of wine sampling.   Attendees can sample from over 90 wines from 24 Trail members.

Special VIP packages include parking, early access to the festival VIP area, exclusive catered lunch provided by C&O Restaurant, opportunity to sample select wines not available to general public and a chance to mingle with wine-makers.

In addition to many participating vineyards, Taste of Monticello Wine Trail will feature an array of non-wine vendors offering products ranging from jewelry to produce, fine cheeses, and baked goods. Food vendors include Whole Foods Market, Pantheon Popsicles, and more. Blankets and lawn chairs are encouraged, as there will be designated areas for picnicking.

Wine University Course Offerings will be presented by Wine Made Simple at their boothThe following classes will be offered throughout the day in 30-minute sessions:

  • Reading a Wine Label  – 2:30
  • Tasting and Describing Wine – 3:15
  • Old World vs. New World Winemaking – 4:00
  • Pairing Wine with Food – 4:45
  • The Relevance of Price When Selecting Wine – 5:30

Wine author Richard Leahy will be selling and autographing newly published copies of Beyond Jefferson’s Vines, a hardback book over 200 pages that details Virginia wine since 1619 but focuses on the last decade, with visits to wineries statewide.
